KL International Water Festival

Description:
Water looms large in the life of Kuala Lumpur and the city capitalises on its suitability for water-based activities with an annual Water Festival. There are hundreds of components to the month-long water carnival, like a sandcastle building contest, an underwater treasure hunt, the 'catch the duck' competition, log-walk fights and many kayak, canoe and jet-ski races. A programme of cultural music and dance performances, most offered free of charge, tops off the extravaganza.

Wesak Day

Visakha Bucha Day is observed on the day of the full moon during the 6th lunar month, which usually falls in either May or early June. It is a day to commemorate three important incidents: the birth, the enlightenment and the passing away of the Buddha. Miraculously, these events fell in the same month and on the same date in the Buddhist era.

Colours of Malaysia 2008

Creative lightshows and dazzling displays of fireworks dapple the vast canvas of the evening sky as a host of dancers parade the length of Persiaran Perdana at Putrajaya promoting their ethnicity, culture and traditions proudly. Thousands of performers from far swung corners of Malaysia will be displaying the uniqueness of their cultures, traditions and arts in the form of dance and music. The nation's people celebrate with vigour and unity.

Global Indian Shopping Festival 2008

Place : Mid Valley Mega Mall, Kuala Lumpur
Description:
Exhibiting Indian based products such as traditional attire, accessories, body art, house hold décor, brassware as well as food and medicine, the event is regarded the largest Indian Shopping Festival in the Asia Pacific region. The Global Indian Shopping Festival has attracted about 471,533 locals and more than 11,000 visitors last year; from countries like Europe, United States, Middle East, South Asia, ASEAN, Australia and New Zealand.

King's Birthday Celebrations

Malaysians celebrate His Majesty the King of Malaysia's birthday on 4 June with a series of events and ceremonies in the capital, Kuala Lumpur. Events include a ceremonial Trooping of the Colours and a rousing performance by a military band. This ceremony symbolises the Malaysian Armed Forces’ pledge of loyalty to the His Majesty the King of Malaysia.

Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast' The Broadway Musical

Merdeka Day Parade
Malaysia's 50th year of independence (Merdeka). This historic event is celebrated in joyous mood by Malaysians from all walks of life over a one-month period. Malaysians display their love for the country by proudly flying Jalur Gemilang or the national flag. A host of activities is held in each state including parades, exhibitions of Malaysia's history and fireworks displays, culminating in a grand parade attended by their Majesties, the King and Queen, the Prime Minister, dignitaries and the public.
